With a phone that's about three years old comes a battery that doesn't quite have the same stamina as before. Sometimes I'm caught a bit off guard and the battery runs very low if my work day is longer than expected. I've decided to keep a charger cable at work so that this problem is easily solved, but that brings the challenge of making sure that charger cable doesn't get "borrowed" more or less permanently by someone else.
Arts&crafts to the rescue! :) There's no question who this cable belongs to. :) Just in case though, I chose the oldest cable, already kept together by duct tape. I did single crochets tightly over the entire length of the cable, crocheting over both ends to hide them and twisting as I went along. Easy peasy. Ravelry link.

WIP: Beekeeper's madness
Reasons to knit the Beekeper’s Quilt: It’s so cute and squishy!!
Reasons NOT to knit the Beekeper’s Quilt: I have no need for a heavy blanket. I get bored without lace. I can’t stand seaming. I’m not fond of mismatching colours. I don’t have a lot of leftover sock yarn lying around. And I really should be knitting gifts for my nieces instead.
So clearly, the pro side wins out on this one. :) Let the madness begin!

Reid toddler cardigan
This toddler cardigan was knitted in a frenzy so to be ready for Christmas… The pattern is uncomplicated with an easily memorized repeat, so thankfully
it didn't take long!
-
My gauge was ever so slightly larger than in the pattern, so it’s a bit bigger even though I blocked it very gently, trying to stretch it only lengthwise. Better too big than too small, I always say. It’s still a little bit too short though... I also made a couple of other modifications, have a look on my Ravelry project page for the details.

Chalice scarf
I’ve never knitted with linen before, but Line by Sandes Garn is a linen-cotton blend that I’ve seen
used successfully in lace patterns so I gave it a go and it worked
well. The pattern, Chalice, is actually a baby blanket, but was easily modified to a scarf. For the details, have a look on my Ravelry project page.
-
I added clear faceted beads in a triangular pattern at each edge. Even though the yarn is lovely, it just needed that little sparkle of light.
-
A provisional cast on enabled me to work the pattern seamlessly from the centre of the scarf towards the edges. This means the pattern is offset by half a stitch in the centre, but I think it looks pretty good. Much better than a seam!

The one that caught me by surprise
I've used nearly every sheet of my BG Wisteria paper pad, but there are a couple of them that I've found to be a colour that just doesn't match anything else in my stash. But look, here they are on a card! Imagine my surprise when this card just kind of fell together all on its own from paper scraps and other leftovers on my desk. I still don't know exactly how that happened...

Oceanspray edging scarf
I love the edging of the triangular shawl Oceanspray, but the body is a bit on the dull side for me. But then I came across this project and realised there was a way to utilise that edging in a different way! I've added a garter stitch border where the main body would be, it is widest at the centre and tapers towards the edges. This, along with some intentionally curved blocking, helps create a crescent shape that falls nicely over the shoulders.

Sweet girl
New baby arrival! This card isn't really baby pink, but still works, right? It is pink after all... :)

Enjoy the ride
I made this one for a colleague that started a new job. I often go for arrows as a symbol of moving on, or changing something in our lives. This isn't a topic that's extensively covered in scrapping or card making supplies, so I have to invent my own decorations...
-
Those cork arrow stickers are lovely! I used some molding paste and a mask to add another three-dimensional aspect to the card.

Make a wish
PL supplies in action again! Clean and simple, modern and fresh colours. Kind of a breath of fresh air after a couple of heavily embellished vintage styled cards. But I have no doubt that I'll soon flip the switch the other way again, I just can't land on a single style. Variation is the key to happiness. :)

Forty
Like the previous card, this one is also clean and simple, but I much prefer this one. It's strange how something looks good and something not, but not being able to fully explain why... Anyway, this layout took a while to balance out, but I think the result is ok.

More butterflies
This one came together really fast, from stuff that was lying on my desk already. Nice and simple, but not too boring. I like the layout and think I will repeat it some time. Also, how can you not love kraft and pink? :)

Butterflies
I've always found the English term "butterfly" to be a bit weird... Butter and flies? I prefer the Norwegian word"sommerfugl", which means "summer bird"... But what's in a name? That which we call a butterfly by any other name would look as sweet. Ooooh I'm channelling my inner Shakespeare here. Bottom line: butterflies are pretty!

A fragment
Now where did the overview picture go? I have no idea. I just have this tilted detail shot, and even that one isn't very good. I suspect I took a few pictures when the card was done, probably some time after midnight if I know myself well. When achieving a proper white balance proved difficult in the poor light conditions, I decided to shoot next morning instead. But remembering such things at seven in the morning is difficult and the card was most likely delivered without any more pictures... Oh well. I made a card and that's all there is to it. :)

Shine on!
One of my colleagues has just left for a new job, and this card was made to wish her all the best on her new adventure. While this style is often my choice for men's cards, it also works well for a woman when the highly embellished flowery style seems too cute for her taste. I'd certainly love to receive a card like this, and I hope that goes for others too.
